The TFC team (The Football Club) is building a Metaverse for football fandom to connect, play and monetize the game experience.
TFC platform consists of the most advanced fantasy football solution, closely bound with the NFT Marketplace where users can buy virtual football goods. Fantasy football integrates with the real-time data (of the matches being played) from an external data provider which is processed and pushed to a huge audience providing users with a unique live experience in a virtual stadium. “Play blockchain-based real-life football challenges. Earn coins, collect & trade officially licensed football & lifestyle items for your 3D Avatar.”
The goal was to create the fastest live data engine on the
market. To achieve that, we’ve built the backend with Java, Spring Boot, Micronaut, Rest API, and k8s and used Firebase Cloud Messaging to reach a wide audience on a variety of mobile platforms.
The use of 3D avatars and the availability of NFT Marketplace, where users can buy personalized digital goods and items, provided users with an immersive fan engagement experience unlike any other in the new football metaverse.
Near real-time processing and a variety of mobile platforms
To provide users with a near real-time live experience of the virtual stadium and football metaverse, we had to build a highly scalable solution capable of distributing notifications and results to both iOS and Android user bases.
Integrate a wide range of technologies
In addition to the external provider of real-time sports events data, we also had to integrate with several authentication systems (Google, Apple) and a range of payment services, building our transaction processing engine and store.
Time to market
A fully functional MVP, with a real-time processing engine, live push notifications, and an NFT marketplace had to be developed, tested, and ready for the start of the 2021/2022 Bundesliga season.
